NWFP govt dissolves LG System, appoints administrators

PESHAWAR: The NWFP government through a notification on Saturday announced to dissolve local government system and appoint administrators to exercise the powers of district Naizms, Tehsil Nazims and Union council Nazims.

The notification, which was read out by senior minister Bashir Ahmad Bilour during a press conference said that in the light of the provisions contained in section 179(B) of the NWFP local government ordinance, 2001 amended vide North West Frontier Province Local Government (Amendment) Act 2010, the Government of NWFP is pleased to dissolve all Zilla Councils, Tehsil Councils, Town Councils and Union Council in All districts of North West Frontier Province, with immediate effect.

The notification further stated that consequently all the Nazims, Naib Nazims and Members of the Councils in North-West Frontier Province cease to hold their respective offices. Bashir Ahmad Bilour, during the press conference also announced the order of appointing administrators in all 24 districts of the province which stated that consequent upon the dissolution of all Zilla Councils, Tehsil Councils, Town Councils and Union Council through the notification used by Local Government and Rural Development Department on February 20, 2010 the competent authority is pleased to authorize all District Coordination Officers (DCOs) in NWFP to perform the duties of administrators in place of district Nazims in their respective districts, in addition to their own duties, with immediate effect.

The government through the same notification also decided to appoint separate administrators to perform their duties in place of defunct union Council Nazims in all districts of NWF.LINK....
